Have you ever been outside the US? The US is the only country I have been to that doesn't have the concept of transit and treats every arriving passenger as a potential immigrant who requires an overpriced visa, a convincing story, and a bit of quickie sex with a government employee just to make it to another airport. Maybe the concept of transit is too complex for Americans? Maybe we have become too inbred over the years or something. For whatever reason we seem to suffer from extreme mental retardation when it comes to anything involving travel or security, and hell, probably just in general. My dog could probably think up a better system than what we have now.
