Standing. It at least gives the impression that they are at work and are there to meet your needs. When I think of customer service people that are seated I get the image of someone who could care less about whatever it is that I'm trying to get resolved. They're probably looking at a computer terminal and might as well be playing solitaire while mindlessly saying "mmm hmmm".
