I agree with Guy Betsy. You can NEVER sweet talk anybody at CX to upgrade you. Period.

And for that matter, in all my years of flying, I have NEVER been upgraded complementarily on the kindness of airline employees. It's always because the class I'm booked in is full AND an elite member of the airlines FFP.
