The Marco Polo Club does not work this way. You can only accrue miles and status under AsiaMiles. It does not work like Singapore Airlines' PPS Club where you can accrue loyalty miles in PPS and award miles in another FF programme.
That is the current gripe amony loyal Marco Polo Club members. The old days before ONeWorld came along, you can earn loyalty miles on MPC and accrue miles on another ff programme like then PASSAGES, Ansett and Swissair.
The only membership that will allow you to keep MPO status and accrue mileage in another programme is BA's Airmiles. But you must be a resident of UK to do that, and the award miles you earn do not qualify for BA's Executive Club. Just AirMiles.
So if you want to get the MPC card, you must stick with Asiamiles. You cannot get your miles earned to AAdvantage. For now anyway, many thousands of members (including me) have written to Cathay but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
