We have used ours for more than two years, since our daughter was about a year old (IIRC). We have never had a problem with it. If fact, our daughter loves the harness as being a part of her flying routine (including setting it up, etc.).

By contrast, bringing a carseat into the plane is too much of a PITA, IMHO.
