We had a great three-day, weekend stay here in August. Everyone was very friendly, and the hard product was quite nice, as well. Maybe not quite at the level of a Four Seasons (as this hotel used to be), but met my expectations as set by others on this forum and the hotel's website. We got what I thought was a bargain price of $295 per night with the third night free (Sunshine on Sale). Also, we booked through Virtuoso, which got us a $100 resort credit. (The other Virtuoso perks were already available to me as a Diamond.) The hotel offered a 4 PM late checkout when we checked in, which we accepted.

We also used a Diamond suite upgrade and got a very nice suite -- I am guessing it was the second-smallest suite type, not the smallest. They said their suites were booked solid when we first arrived (we had to wait about an hour for one to open up and get cleaned), so perhaps that was the only one they had available that day.

The pool is pretty good, though the whole pool area could certainly use a renovation. (Maybe we're spoiled by the Hualalai, etc.) It is supposedly heated, but it could have been a few degrees warmer for my taste. The pool service is a bit slow, however, as we had to flag down waitresses -- or, more often, walk to the bar to find one -- when we were hungry/thirsty. On the bright side, the food and drinks tended to come out promptly after we ordered.

The valets were also very friendly, giving us directions as we needed. Our 3-year-old daughter loved Legoland, which is about a five minute drive from the hotel.

One negative was that, twice, the housekeepers knocked on our door on our checkout day, asking when we would be leaving. This was despite the privacy sign outside and also our having told the front desk that we would be checking out at 4 PM.

Diamond breakfast gets you a totally free buffet for two adults. They even comp the tip and tax. Our three year old daughter also ate free with us at breakfast. The buffet was pretty limited, but the quality of the food was quite good, better than most Hyatts IMHO. (Much better than the GH Kauai, whose breakfast we did not care for.) We were told the (more expensive) Sunday brunch would not be free, but we ended up eating the free buffet earlier that morning, before the Sunday brunch got started. (They did indicate that they would provide a credit toward brunch if we wanted, but I am not sure if this was due to my being a diamond member or having booked the room through Virtuoso.)

All in all, it was a great stay.
