Sq281 sin - akl

Excuse the sometimes shakey pics, most were taken when sun was down using only overhead compartment lighting with no flash. (Exception was SQ281 BF)

Breakfast Menu

Sliced Fresh Fruit and Croissant

Not on the menu but using SQ "Book the Cook" available on J from some destinations.
Nasi Lemak - Spicy prawns, peanuts, crispy whitebait, fried chicken, spciy prawn paste chilli, omelette and spicy fish pate squares on coconut rice.

Light Bites Menu - note the noodles ex SIN has prawns but ex AKL has not.
No food pics for this menu as I did not try.

Before Touch Down Menu
- the crew tried to serve this about 5 hours into the flight or 5 hours before touch down. I had mine about 2 hours later than most other pax.

Antipasto - Marinated prawns, prosciutto ham with rock melon, mozzarella with assorted tomatoes and grilled vegetables.
Prawns and ham was a poor match, ugh on the ham. Everything else was fine. Dressing looked runny as would have been better plated as a side.

Again, not from the menu but from "Book the Cook" SQ's inflight pre-order meal service.
Slipper lobster Thermidor, buttered asparagus, and slow-roasted vine-ripened tomato, and saffron rice
If there was one thing that epitomised a drop in SQ service, this would be it. It was 60% mushroom and 40% lobster, not sure where the rest of the lobster went? I might save the $$ and fly Y next time if this continues. I had this same meal in 2008 and it was more like 90% lobster and 10% mushroom.

Chocolate delice - Layers of caramel truffle and chocolate mousse granduji with English cream sauce (by Matthew Moran of Aria Restaurant, Sydney)
I rate it 6.5/10

Gourmet cheese with garnishes.
Note - Blue cheese missing from destinations out of SIN. Same on an J class NZ flight out of HKG, blue cheese also missing. Do flights originating from asian destinations have any blue cheese?
