As a parent, would you allow your autistic six year old to travel halfway across the country unaccompanied?? Isn't it the parent's responsibility to notify Delta if this is a special needs child so extra care can be taken. Do we know they did this at check-in? It's a sad comment on our culture when so many people just dump their small children, or elderly parents, off at the airport and expect airline personnel to take care of them.
