I had a reservation spontaneously split by United this past Thursday. Didn't really matter since we both had the same status but if one of us had lost the ability to check bags free, etc on the return flight then I would have been quite upset. Since I didn't get any notification this might have created quite an issue had we arrived at the airport and the agent for some reason not been able to find our reservation.
