Standard accommodation in country areas tends to be motels, and not necessarily pubs.

They vary from basic to high end.

You should consider doing the Great Ocean Road - fabulous landscapes, and a good variety of forest types, from low coastal scrub, dry sclerophyll forests to amazing rainforest.

Be warned that you are here in the main Summer holidays and the locals will have booked out a lot of accommodation. You've got no chance at all of getting accommodation at Wilsons Prom, for instance.
