If I'm going from one hotel to another I'll take travel toiletries from the first hotel, if I like them. The quality of hotels I stay at varies massively (self employed, budget traveller), so taking some "nice" soap can make a big difference.

I take notepads if I need them, but if I don't need them then I'll just leave them in the room.

I wouldn't take towels, slippers, or anything like that.
