Flying BA on AA miles when infant turns two during trip

I have successfully used the BA rule that an "infant" gets his own seat after he turns two during a trip on a BA award flight. A bit of creative ex-EU routings can of course extend this benefit to most of a long-haul trip well into the toddler's third year.

My questions is, and I'm not entirely sure whether this belongs here or on the AA forum, if I book solely BA flights on an AA/OW reward ticket using AA miles, does this benefit apply? In other words, would it be the carrier's rules about infants that apply or the carrier that issues the reward tickets?

In practice, would I in any case be able to get this past the AA international reward desk (apparently a challenge at the best of times somewhere in India, much like BMI).

(Moderator - feel free to move this to AA is it is felt it doesn't belong).
