It's also a good idea to spoof the MAC address of your router if you're using it in a hotel. I've been to some places that have restricted internet access if detected that the manufacturer's code (the first three bytes of your MAC) were assigned to: dLink, Linksys, NetGear, etc.
Just take the first 3 bytes of your laptop addy and make up the last 3 bytes. Might help and never hurts.
Could I use the "clone my MAC address" feature, my last 3 bytes are 4:AC just change it to something like 5:BE ?

Would the police/govt have a problem if I brought my handheld GPS that I use for geotagging photos? I will be at all the standard tourist spots, I am not venturing into remote China or near borders.
