Either Bangkok or Singapore would be my recommendation. Singapore has more daily flights than Bangkok, but both have a large number of options for discount flights within Southeast Asia

Singapore's Changi airport has a great website called www.viasingapore.com which you can use to search for the cheapest fare for any carriers (discount and regular) flying to/from/via Singapore. That will give you a good idea of the options for onward travel.
