Also the LH flights to MUC generally leave from gates fairly close to security. So they really don't need to arrive more than 40 minutes before their flight (since check-in closes 30 minutes before).
I would tell them to be there 1 hour before the flight, and they'll have plenty of time for a drink in the Spanair / Star Alliance lounge. ^
