If you land on time, don't check a bag, and take a taxi, you will probably arrive right around 6PM.
If you land on time, check a bag, and/or rent a car, you will most likely be late, due to all the time lost in waiting for bags and getting the rental car.
It should take about 30-40 minutes to get from LAX to the Andaz in moderate traffic (assuming you do not get lost). I would take an earlier flight if you have the option.
