With a OneWorld Explorer ticket (continent based with max of 20 segments) you are not allowed to go Santiago-Tahiti-Santiago. Tahiti is in the South West Pacific. Once you have left South America that's it:- no going back.

As for changing a ticket a partly used 34000 mile Global Explorer for a OneWorld Explorer ticket (continent based with max of 20 segments) I very much doubt it. Check the purchase conditions of your ticket with the agent - airline from whom you bought the ticket. They may want to charge you full fare for the sectors flown, and give you any money left over or ask you for more money, and then start again with a OneWorld Explorer ticket
