The Pier is a comfortable, closed room - think Concorde lounge, but nicer in several ways. The Wing is mostly an open mezzanine, much like being in a hangar. You get to hear all the public announcements and general noise, contrasting with many first-class lounges where serenity is the rule and no announcements at all are made. The decor is basic granite, which adds to the noise and coldness of the place. People like it for the amenities, I guess - cabanas and a sit-down restaurant.
They're quite far apart, and we usually just use the one closest to our departure gate.
