I was with Qantas FF for many years before coming to BAEC, and wonder if Tier Point earning is going to be enhanced, if it will be along the lines of Qantas Status Credits (
http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/...status-credits). As has been noted, the changes so far announced have been based more closely on distance flown than in the past (I've always thought NYC was over-priced so the reduction there was good news), so the QFF status credit model would be in keeping with the theme. Such a change would reward some flying patterns and punish others.
For example, LHR-LCA at 2040 miles gets 80 TPs in J right now, while LHR-TLV at 2233 gets 120 in J. A distance based scheme would see them in the same zone I'd expect - maybe 100 TPs each. In the meantime LHR-SIN in J at 6765 only gets 120 at the moment, and you might think that would go to something like 180.
This is all speculation, and I assume no one's still reading this thread as it's gone a bit beserk, so I'll wait until November for more details. Right - now it's been brought to my attention that you can fly JFK-HKG return in F with CX for 150K plus £206 taxes, I'm off to book up as many as I can before they're priced out of our reach.
