In my opinion, there seems to be a whole lot of complaints on this forum based on ridiculous assumptions that LAX-HKG will be the same as LAX-LHR plus LHR-HKG.
I said this in a now locked thread, to think that all mileage will be based off distance from London is ridiculous. BA published examples only from London since they are based in London. However, Avios will also become the currency for Iberia, and I don't find it plausible to think they will be basing all awards to and from Spain based on distance from London, will a MAD-BCN award cost the same as MAD-LHR plus LHR-BCN? I don't think so ...
