I wanted to get an AAnytime award ticket for a flight. The flight is Y2, and I can still buy a full-price coach ticket on AA.com, but both AA.com and the EXP desk say that there are no anytime AAwards available. I understand that the flight is sold to capacity, and the Y2 are probably 2 tickets they are willing to oversell. But I thought "AAnytime" meant that if a ticket was for sale, you could get an award ticket for that flight.
This definition seems a little ambiguous in this case:
AAnytimeŽ Awards provide you with the most flexibility, allowing you to book any unsold seat on any day.
Is this a case similar to the EXP 24 hour guarantee, where it is so rare that most agents don't know how to do it, or does AAnytime not apply when there are tickets for sale, but somehow no "unsold seats"?
