The only question is can you garner some value from the return segment of your award ticket. Likely not worth the effort if even possible.
EDIT: I would certainly try and recoup some via the company. Man up :-)
Company expense, so no worries. The company will also reimburse documented expenses such as the change fee or redeposit fee, but asking for lost value of award miles would be tricky and probably not worth the hassle.

No worries here either, really just extending a travel day anyway and I could have said no if it was a really big deal for me (it is not).
