As an update, I'm typing this on my brand new HP dm1z. So far, I like it a lot. The first thing I did was wipe the system and use the HP recovery partition to reinstall Windows without any of HP's bloatware. The main issue for me at this point is the lack of the little pencil eraser mouse thing between the G and H keys, which I've used on my IBM/Lenovo laptops for the last 10 years or so. Also, my thumb/palm have a tendency to touch the touchpad while typing, which has unpredictable results.

I will probably get an SSD when I find a good deal on one. DOes anyone know how I will be able to reinstall Windows onto an SSD? The recovery partition doesn't give an option to create recovery media, and as I understand it the recovery media those partitions do create can't do a fresh install of Windows anyway. Surely there must be an answer...ideas?

Edit: Found a good deal. Rebate expires tomorrow, so get while the getting's good!

Thanks!
