I submit that they haven't gone the way of the do-do, but rather the way of the hibernating bear. When the economy picks up, as it will, and when people start to forget about September 11th, as they will, those high yield passengers will return. But if AC doesn't have a product for them, they'll most certainly be flying anyone-but-AC, at least on routes where there is competition. So AC will just become another domestic discount operation.
