Be careful if you do this. I added my rental car to my IPass (Illinois) account and was charged for tolls that happened a couple of weeks prior. This is because when they were reviewing the person who ran the tolls, my IPass was matched with the license plate. In addition, once I take my plate off the account, it isn't thee when the IPass people review the film, so it doesn't get charged to me anyway.

I had a similar issue, but since it was a short rental, I let it go and paid the tolls that time via my credit card. Now, when I get back from a trip, I make sure I was charged for my round trip tolls and voluntarily pay any online (with the rental car license plate). While I have to pay the cash rate for these selected/missed tolls, I don't have to pay the convenience fee.

I would probably just use the eToll, but I can't justify paying the cash toll rate (2X the IPass rate) AND the convenience fee for each day of the rental.
