I'm sorry, where did I claim that was 'the big secret' to vegas? I just simply stated that if you are going to gamble, hitting something big your first day and not gambling is the best way to do it.
That implies lady luck is on your side, nothing more.
I've seen people drop mad money in Vegas trying to recover their losses and it just spirals from there.
