CX premium economy and asiamiles implication... Your insight appreciated

Guys, there are two scenarios that I would like to find out if they hold true to how I think they would under the new premium economy scenario, (2 things)

1) - now that CX is introducing a premium economy product, any idea how this will affect upgrading with asiamiles from economy to business using asiamiles?

Presently we upgrade from a pricey K class economy ticket to a business class ticket + 70k miles,

However as other airlines, such as BA operate, they require only 35k miles fo the same upgrade, which is only half the usual miles for an upgrade issued from premium economy to business.

As well as far as I know, B.A requires you to buy the cheapest premium economy (WT+) ticket T class, but this ticket is generally the same price of what CX sells a K class seat for (on the HKG-LHR sector)....

If CX follows this model, the implications are that costs of upgrading will drop significantly in terms of miles, but stay the same in ticket costs.... This would be a bonanza that would save miles, but make U class upgrade award seats less available due to the fact that everyone's miles would go further, and so more miles out there chasing after cheaper seats. I personally would buy less J class seats, and rely more on premium economy + miles upgrades whenever I get a seat....

Does anyone have any insight on this?

2) As well BA only gives op ups (as far as I know) from WT to WT+, and WT+ to J, does this mean zero chance for CX diamonds sitting in Y to get into J (as two class op ups are never allowed as far as I know), while at the same time a lowly oneworld ruby in premium economy will more likely be eligible to be upgraded, as the Y+ is a relatively small cabin. In fact being a small premium economy cabin on fully sold out Y and premium economy means its a great chance for getting an op up to J with a low or no status PAX.

Does anyone have any insight on this too?
