If you don't have a flexible/refundable ticket can you call BA as soon as the flight is threatened or are you stuck until it gets cancelled? If you can't do anything until the flight gets cancelled it seems very harsh to blame people for not taking action sooner - ok you can look up alternative routes/flights but that doesn't mean they will be available when you get to rebook
