It was clear on Wednesday that there would be MAJOR disruption to travel over the weekend. A simple call to BA BEFORE the weekend would have allowed them to switch onto an earlier flight or a flight after the weekend.
I was always told to check with your airline 72 / 48 hours before you fly to make sure that your plane route is still happening. Okay we are always too busy / lazy to do that. If you fly enough of the main airlines then you can fall back on the looking after you. But during bad times, you need to prepare and do your job as a pax.
