I recently purchased a 4 continent ticket, which has 15 flight segments. Base cost was $3,700. With taxes and fees the total cost was $3,960.38. So taxes amounted to $260.38, or 7% of the base fare price. I don't know if my experience (i.e., the 7% amount) is common though...
