LQs T&Cs state "
Reservations booked through third-party Web sites, i.e., Hotels.com, etc., may not be eligible to receive La Quinta Returns points." This is pretty clear standard language, saying the booking are ineligible, isn't it?
"may not be eligible" is neither clear nor means bookings are ineligible. In fact, I don't see how it can be more vague.
