Recently flew SQ in C PEK-SIN-PEK. Overall, its was a disspointing experience.
The new C class seats are quite nice and the IFE is good, but the service was lacking.
On the outbound PEK-SIN, I was not addressed by name, even once (note that US based carriers usually read your name from a list when taking meal orders, even on domestic flights). Its quite the "compliment" to compare SQ C with United!
While still on the ground, I saw that other C passengers were getting bottles of water. When I asked, the FA said "Ok, after take off" and walked away. Several minutes later another FA came by with my water and the original one walked by saying "I asked my collegue for your water". Really?
Meal service was very average. The noodles were quite bland.
On the inbound SIN-PEK flight, the in flight supervisor was very nice and welcomed everyone with a smile. But it went downhill from there. Meal service took about 2-3 hours, with about 45 minutes in between courses (I was starting to wonder if I would even get an entree). When the entree finally arrived, it was terrible. It was a dry, overcooked, and overall very bland piece of salmon. I had touble finishing it. Drinks were not being refilled and I had to ask every time. Again, no one addressed me by name, at any point.
However, I would like to say that the lounge at Changi was quite nice!
Was my experience terrible? No. Did it live up to the expectations I had from SQ? No. Are my experiences with major European carriers (OS, LH) better than SQ? Yes.
