I'm on NH205 in a few days with a companion. I called to select seats but the agent said there were no pairs of seats available.
It's a 77W. I looked on EF and it looks like 3DFG, 6AC DF are open, but they are marked as "P" - premium only.
It also looks like 16 FG opened up since I called but that's probably the worst 2 together business seats.
So what usually happens in this case? Once the flight goes to airport control can I expect to get the premium seats? For an itinerary booked with 2 people is there a guarantee of 2 seats together if no seats are selected?
What would the experienced NH flyer's here do?

Since I don't know what day you're flying I can't confirm the details of your story, but in general NH retains some seats for their elites until check-in begins 24 hours before the flight. (If you are not an NH elite, they cannot assign you those seats online or via phone.) At check-in you should be able to select seats, and unless the flight is quite full you will likely be able to obtain a pair of seats. There is no guarantee, however.
