Unfortunately Hurricane Irene rather disrupted our plans for the weekend, and we found ourselves at a La Quinta instead of where we expected to be. Because of road closures, our 1 night stay turned into a 2 night stay, and we needed to move rooms. Didn't bother me much, we were upgraded to a 2 room suite.
We have Cat #3 with us, on her first road trip - which is why we're at a La Quinta instead of any other type of hotel.
Anyhow, after we had to change rooms, I went back to the first room to get an extra blanket I had gotten last night for my son. The housekeeper was the process of cleaning the room, so I asked if I could just grab the blanket. She apologized, but said ALL the linens had already gone downstairs for washing because that's their policy for pet rooms. I looked in the room, and she really did mean all - the beds were down to bare mattresses.
Now Cat #3 is a very clean housecat - shampoo'ed once a month, and flea-free, so perhaps after her being in the room, such cleaning was less necesary than it might otherwise have been, but I was glad to know that we weren't sleeping in someone else's pet hair and possible pests.
How many hotel chains do you think do such thorough post-pet cleaning? I know at least one Marriott that
claims to as a way to justify its exorbitant pet fee, but doesn't actually wash every layer of linen.
Oh, and at LQ we of course pay no pet fee!
