While I only relocate from West to East coast, I took advantage of the 3 x 70 lbs. The third bag makes for a more pleasant interim stay while you wait for the rest of your household.
As a side note, one of my bags clocked in at 71 lbs at the airport. I had to remove that additional pound. They first cited work-related injury issues once you get past the 70 lbs. And having lifted the bags myself, I do understand that issue. However, these concerns magically go away if you are willing to pony up $200. So pack carefully, mine weight in at 69 lbs at home.
