Thumbs down UACO kept its thumb up its arse too long

What is annoying is UA/CO's foot dragging on deciding when to announce cancellations. I had a flight south out of IAD today (our travel office balked at the extra $400 to fly out of DCA) and in late afternoon yesterday it still showed online as operating. Weather forecasts in the prior 24 hours had been pretty consistent, and if anything have marginally improved since. If they had exercised the common sense and courtesy to announce their cancellations yesterday, I could have changed to a flight yesterday evening, which would have also been helpful to them as to rebooking all of those from the cancelled flights. To make it easier for people to take earlier flights rather than piling up on later flights could have been accomplished for the airline's benefit by a more timely cancellation announcement. Instead they kept their thumb up their arse and I get stuck here for an extra day. That is just gross incompetence on their part that adversely impacts both the airline and its passengers.
