Both of these routings probably involve five continents, not three. You cannot go between SWP and Europe without going through Asia, adding a fourth continent. Your pass through NA on the way to SA will probably add in NA as a fifth continent (the rules are not clear on this).

Basically, if you touch a continent, you pay for it.
