Speed: while I've not used the DM1z, we've got a couple of Lenovos (X120e) with the same E-350 CPU, and they're
just fast enough for general use... a little pokey, but usable and they don't quite feel like a netbook. Nice machines, otherwise.
Not sure if the DM1z is offered with the single-core version of the same processor (E-240) but the Lenovo is, and would strongly recommend avoiding them.

For comparison: I use 1TB Sammy F3 on my i5 desktop and it opens word in 2-3 seconds.
Yeah, that's WAY too slow; I've Windows on a VirtualBox VM which on a regular (not sure if it's even 7200rpm) desktop drive, and it's under 2sec, the same as on my i5 laptop off SSD. Bad antivirus? A lot of office plugins? Too little memory for other apps being run causing swapping
