Haha, very true, but i was hoping people could draw on parallel situations of upgrading from one amex to another. Say a gold to plat, or to a hotel program card, where your # remained the same and charging on it before your new one arrived. Not having to be exactly the MB plat

I twittered @AskAmex about this and they said to go ahead and make the charges (ordered the car part and will pick up+pay for it tomorrow) using my current plat and they can adjust my points if it does not automatically give it.

I really should just tweet these questions first.... lol
