Using 'new' card before it arrives?
So somewhat complicated issue here....

I have a regular plat card, which I am having switched over to the new Mercedes/Plat card. The change has already been reflected on amex.com, and ive been told my # will remain the same so i can continue to use my current card till the new one gets here.

Now one of the perks of the Mercedes card is 5x MR points on spending at the dealer, and I want to go and have an upgrade done to my car today or tomorrow. Can I use my current (old) Plat card there, and get the 5x points? if its the same card # and everything as the new one thats coming? Or will it not count if its not charged to the new one directly?
