Though AS wasn't really a pioneer - B6 has been using EFB* for some time - it looks like they were distinctly ahead of the pack. DL, UA, UPS etc. have all jumped on the iPad EFB. Though some see the PDF as antediluvian, some old school pilots still print out PDFs and like to have them on their knee boards "just in case". (Not likely a major issue, given at lesst a primary and backup must be on board.)
Of course, all EFBs will be powered down and stowed properly below 10,000 feet, right?
