Thanks for your replies. So let me clarify this. According to you guys DEL-LHR-LIS-MAD-BCN-MXP-ORD(via LHR) is ok since I only used four segments ie. 1) LHR-LIS 2) LIS-MAD 3)MAD-BCN 4)BCN-MXP. From MXP to ORD (even though it is via LHR) should count as an outward segment and not count in the internal four segments. Am I correct in understanding this?

Also, on the North America part can I do this:

Arrive from Europe to ORD. Take a stopover. Then after a few weeks, do ORD-MIA-PTY-MIA-ORD and then take another stopover in ORD (having used 4 internal segments). A few weeks later I do ORD-DFW-ORD and then stop for a few more weeks in ORD. Then a few weeks later I do ORD-NRT to leave N. America.
