Definitely not as speedy as an i3, but that shows in battery life too -- it plays HD video perfectly, with an SSD installed, Word opens in 3 seconds (compared to 25 seconds on my non-SSD i7 desktop).

I think with the stuff you want do you, you won't run into any speed issues at all.
