Tried that a couple of times, but pretty tough when the flight is nearly full. I have also tried this 'inboard' but this is more difficult even though there are sometimes nice surprises but there are also particulary unpleasant hostess from time to time.

Actually, if you are hoping for an op upgrade, you will want the flight to be as full/oversold as possible. If the flight is empty the chances of an op up are slim to none and slim just left town..
