Even the normal ORD/Frankfurt "Great Circle" would likely take the flight North of the Storm as it slows and dissipates over NY/New England or bends to the East out to sea, reducing in intensity rapidly as the water cools. At worst, the flight will chart a more Northerly route, a parabola instead of a circle, across Labrador and S. Greenland, near Iceland then SE into Frankfurt. There are those around who may recall that as the more common TATL routing to allow short ranged a/c to stop along the way, magic names from yesteryear, Gander and Goose, Thule and Keflavik, Prestwick and on to RheinMain.

Don't worry, those big thunder bumpers outside the starboard windows are the Northern edge of the storm.
