SWISS and American Airlines have applied to the US Government for Anti Trust Immunity. It is anticipated that this should be received within the next few weeks. Once ATI has been obtained, the partners plan to deepen their alliance, to include additional benefits such as coordinated schedules, pricing and sales programs for corporate accounts.
Looking further ahead, it is the intention of SWISS to become a full member of the oneworld alliance, of which American Airlines is a founding member. SWISS already has close links with all the other oneworld partners – Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Lan Chile and Qantas. Full entry into oneworld necessitates bilateral agreements with all the alliance partners. These discussions are ongoing.</font>
There are also a couple of new LX codeshares with OW carriers in the new winter schedule, ie. LHR-BSL (BA) and DUB-ZRH (EI).
My bet is for OW membership in Q2/2003.
Just waiting for hfly to come out for another one of his LX rants.
