I just downloaded the last enemy from TPB (currently seeding with a high speed connection if you want to download it). I'm about 5 minutes into it and it looks interesting actually. Well at least for the telly.
There are no more free countries in the world. In the short term, there will be countries with more freedom than the US of course, but in the long term there is nowhere to run. It is in the nature of governments to grow and to constantly seek more power. That's what they do. The US founders made a valiant attempt, but it was ultimately unsuccessful.
I was recently thinking about the idea of a libertarian/anarchist community in Antarctica. It's the only land left that is not claimed by some government. In the short term we couldn't call ourselves a new country, but after some decades of living there and growing a population and manufacturing enough arms to defend ourselves we might be able to claim some area as our own, despite the silly Antarctic Treaty. Such treaties are broken all the time.
It may seem like an inhospitable place, but the only other alternative to tyranny is a lunar colony or overthrowing a current regime with a military coup. All the more hospitable places and nearly all of the inhospitable ones have already been claimed by governments.
