Traveling without an ID or CC has been a difficult task. However I have found that it is possible.
Since I have lost my wallet during my trip out of state (including ID, cash and CC's) I have found it possible to rent a car and check in at multiple SPG hotels. I am not entirely sure how I accomplished getting the car but I was able to check in at both SPG hotels this week. The first hotel that I stayed at was a Sheraton (Rockville) and people at the front desk recognized me and were very empathetic to my situation. I was shocked at how nicely I was treated as I travel there probably once a month but found this to make a difficult day end with a pleasent experience. I truely felt that they provided excellent customer service.
I can't say the same for the second SPG hotel (Westin Annapolis)

. I had to use my SPG status to finally be able to check in. The manager said that there was no way to check in unless I had a govt issued ID and a CC that they could physically swipe. I stated that I had checked in the night before at a Sheraton and they were incredibly nice and used my CC on file to pay for the stay. He proceded to state that there was no way to use my CC on file and that if I didn't have an ID I couldn't check in. This was completely not true and eventually he was able to use my CC on file and allowed me to check in. However, I had to state that I was a platinum SPG member and would call the platinum concierge service if needed after the manager had walked away from the front desk. That worked and he came back and called them to verify my identity (asked for my address that he had in front of him the whole time) and allowed me to check in. If this happens to you make sure that you are persistent and use all the resources that you have to help you in the situation.
I hope that this helps someone in the future if this happens to you!
