Without status, the first few rows are Preferente-blocked - an airport agent can give you one, though. They also seem to have a touch more legroom. The only exception I've seen to the blocking is for Y/B fares - I once had a B fare (on a South America Airpass) and had full access to the plane BUT I didn't have status, so I was in the last boarding herd.
