I believe that this is somewhat unique to MCO. When you get off the train travelling from the gates, there is no way to get back to the middle section between the trains which return to the gates. They have these 'temporary' signs and tapes set up to funnel one out to the exit airside, and then to get back to the middle section between trains one has to go through security again.
I hope that I explained that clearly - the only word to describe it which comes to mind is 'dämlich'. Maybe FS or someone else familiar with MCO can explain it better than I.
Edited to add: one of the first English translations which Google provided for 'dämlich' is 'Dopey' which I believe is rather apt in this case!
This is how I remember the checkpoint from my last trip through MCO. It is definitely not to scale..
I remember when you get off the train, you're in same general area that recently screened pax go through. I once got on the wrong train, so I just stepped off, walked to the other train, and was on my way to the RCC, no re-screening required.
When exiting, there is also the long, glass hallway that you walk down to get into the lobby of the airport. If you get too far down there, they won't let you return.
